About Me

Welcome to Hastie Therapy Services! I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 15 years of experience working with children and families in a variety of settings. I began my career working with foster children in an emergency shelter and have continued to work with families experiencing a diverse array of challenges, including trauma, toxic stress, medical issues, abuse, and grief.

For the last seven years, I’ve worked as an Early Intervention Specialist and Service Coordinator with Babies Can’t Wait, and have collaborated with families to provide ongoing services for their children in order to support their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

I am an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Support Specialist, and am trained in helping children process grief and trauma. I also work with families struggling with perinatal mood disorders as a coordinator for Postpartum Support International and am a certified Circle of Security Facilitator. I am trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, TraumaPlay (formerly the Flexibly Sequential Play Therapy trauma model), and Child-Parent Psychotherapy.

As a counselor, I work primarily with younger children (age 8 and under), and I believe that, especially when working with small children, mental health must be evaluated and understood in the context of developmental capacity and caregiver relationships. With support and encouragement, early experiences and healthy attachment can teach children to regulate their emotions and form close relationships throughout their lives. Research tells us that play is the language children use to communicate, and I’m excited to work alongside you and your child to create a safe, nurturing environment for self-expression.

I am working as a child therapist under supervision from Nora Blankenship, LCSW, and Leigh Ellen Magness, LCSW R-PTS, and see clients in the offices of Athens Center for Counseling and Play Therapy.
